Wonderfeel Festival Orchestra with Jamal Aliyev
Jaëll, Fauré, Prokofiev
A woman ‘with the brain of a philosopher and the fingers of an artist,’ is what Franz Liszt called Marie Jaëll, a pianist, scientist and – in her time – a celebrated composer in France. Her light, progressive cello concerto will shine in a gorgeous ensemble between the Turkish cellist Jamal Aliyev and the Wonderfeel Festival Orchestra. Other works on the programme will be the joyful suite Masques et bergamasques by Jaëll’s contemporary Gabriel Fauré, as well as the First symphony in the style of Haydn and Mozart, by Sergei Prokofiev.
