Dvorák’s 2nd Piano Quintet ‘Layered and intense playing, with a wide palette of colours,’ praised the jury of the Kersjes Prize about the Animato Quartet, whilst the jury of Dutch Classical Talent mentioned their ‘sparkling energy.’ The perfect company for the dynamic Hannes Minnaar, and together they form the ideal cast for Dvořák’s Second Piano Quintet from 1887. A warm work, straight from Dvořák’s happy place – his estate in Vysoká – where he also composed his eighth symphony and Rusalka. Forests, water, and ‘simple’ country culture can all be heard in this music.
