Pergolesi: Stabat Mater
A mother grieves; she has just lost her child. But even after death takes its toll, the living must carry on. Sadness of this nature is the source of the most beautiful music, especially through the pen of Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. Counter tenor Maarten Engeltjes and his PRJCT Amsterdam collaborate with soprano Elizabeth Hetherington, one of the rising stars of the Dutch baroque scene, for (possibly) the one and only Stabat Mater. Kudos to anyone who manages not to shed a tear!
