How is feminism doing in the cultural sector? What does it mean to make music in the Balkans as a woman? Amira Medunjanin, Katharine Dain, and Dušica Kordić share their personal experiences, identify the obstacles they’ve had to overcome, and illustrate the ways in which they create space for themselves and for others. Festival Thinker Haris Pašović will moderate the discussion. During the session, Dušica Kordić introduces the gusle, a traditional instrument originally played by men, accompanied by pianist Nikola Vučković. What does it mean to play this ancient instrument as a woman, and to pass on the stories connected to it?
