Dunford & Langlois de Swarte – The Mad Lover
How crazy can you get when you’re in love? Pretty crazy, if you are to believe the Mad Lover. Violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte and lute player Thomas Dunford step into the shoes of a 17th-Century lover for whom, without any hope for release, yearning for an unattainable lover was the norm. The English Eccles brothers lifted melancholy to the highest level, but the import-Italians Matteis senior and junior came pretty close with their genuine Mediterranean passion.
