Spraakmaker Rick Paul van Mulligen& Matangi Quartet
Queer sounds: Handel, Britten, Barber, Bernstein, Saint-Saëns, and Tchaikovsky, they were all composers with a diffuse sexuality. Presenter Rick Paul van Mulligen talks about the battle of men (!) against classical (music) etiquette and what we can learn from that today. Stories from the past and the present, accompanied by Saint-Saëns’ Second String Quartet, stunningly performed by the Matangi Quartet.
Queer Sounds is the premiere of the first part of Spraakmakers, a brand new concert series that combines classical music with stories of today. Dutch actors combine stimulating stories about today’s world with matching classical music. Told and played simultaneously, as a theatrical musical story.
