Berlin, 1925. In the heart of the Weimar Republic is a mostly safe haven for what today would be called the LGBTQ+ community. Dozens of bars and clubs welcome all variations of gender and sexuality, the city is a hot spot for groundbreaking research, cabaret breaking all taboos flourishes - until the upcoming Nazi movement violently puts an end to all this. Sound familiar? This programme is a drag queen story hour fleshed out with virtuosic hits from the Berlin clubs of the time, such as Das lila Lied and Das Hirschfeld-Lied. It’s a celebration of the people and places that have been erased, and sketches an ideal vision worth fighting for, now more than ever.
