(Be)longing What does it mean to belong somewhere? Can you feel connected to more than one place? Violinist Julija Hartig, author Chris Keulemans, and Festival Thinker Haris Pašović explore how origins, memory, and identity relate to longing and belonging. A historical perspective on the Western Balkans breaks the stubborn image of ‘Balkan chaos’ and exotism. How close is this region, which is so often seen as ‘far away’? And why is there still so much knowledge missing about the Balkans? During the session, Julija Hartig and Akim Moiseenkov will perform their piece Black Rainbow, a personal composition about family, roots, and connection.
