The Sibil•la Ensemble draws inspiration from the Sibyls: female seers of antiquity, whose prophetic voices resonated through the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. In cultures across the globe, these women were admired and listened to for their insight into what transcends humanity. Through a narrow path between the earthly and the divine, they helped shape the spiritual landscape of the West. On Wonderfeel, the medieval specialists give voice to Saint Hildegard von Bingen. Her music and poetry bridge the gap between nature, knowledge, and the mystical. And they do so in her own lingua ignota, which also serves as the inspiration for new music by composer Yannis Kyriakides.
