RAGAZZE QUARTET, KATHARINE DAIN & SAM ARMSTRONG 
Everything moves: nature, us humans, our lives, time. And these are the subjects of Strauss’ magnificent and compelling Four last songs from 1948, set to poetry by Joseph von Eichendorff and Nobel Prize winner Hermann Hesse. Few song cycles match the bright glow of this one, even without a gigantic orchestra: because soprano Katharine Dain will be singing the Lieder in a brand-new arrangement by Gijs Kramers for string quartet and piano. In addition, the Ragazze Quartet is also performing two titans of American music, with nearly 100 years separating the two: Florence Price and Rhiannon Giddens.
