Saygun, Bartók, Schumann
In 2021 he was the Young Artist of the Year in the prestigious ICMA Awards, this year Can Çakmur proudly presents a poetic programme at Wonderfeel, in the middle of nature. He brings two atmospheric etudes from his home country by Ahmet Adnan Saygun, a pioneer of Western music in Türkiye. He wonderfully juxtaposes Schumann’s poetic and typically romantic pictures from the forest with Bartók’s Out of Doors suite, where the piano sometimes turns into a percussive instrument. In the movement The Night’s Music you can hear the chirping crickets, insects, birds and frogs. Luckily the morning does come with Schumann’s Gesänge der Frühe, in which the troubled composer wears his heart on his sleeve.
