4-WAY STRETCH 
The magical colours of gut strings and endlessly creative combinations; that is the essence of the Butter Quartet. Exhibit A: this programme, which truly stretches in all directions! To cover the only man first: there is Haydn’s Quartet Op. 77 No. 2. A classic, done! But we also enter into late 18th-Century Venice and meet Maddalena Lombardini-Sirmen, an internationally acclaimed composer and violinist at the time. From our time you’ll hear Caroline Shaw’s atmospheric Entr’acte, as well as White Mans Cattle by the Canadian Cris Derksens. This composer, who has roots in Cree culture, integrates historical audio – symbolic for the culture clash in the state of Alberta at the beginning of the 20th Century.
