Wonderfeel Festival Orchestra & Anton Spronk
Of course this year’s Festival Edition will once again be launched by the Wonderfeel Festival Orchestra. At the same time, they will be introducing the British theme which will feature throughout Wonderfeel 2022, curated by guest programmer Toks Dada. Anton Spronk – the winner of countless prizes including the Dutch Classical Talent Award 2021 – will be performing Elgar’s beloved Cello Concerto.
And why is it only now that the Second Symphony by the British Ruth Gipps is being premiered in The Netherlands, 77 after being composed? Luckily times are changing, but in the middle of the 20th Century her gender most definitely did influence her career. Despite her enormous productivity, she never got the acknowledgement and appreciation she deserves. Get ready for typically British extensive melodies and rich orchestrations – and don’t miss out!
The performance of Gipps’ Second Symphony is made possibly by the generous support of two sponsors and a financial gift from société Gavigniès.
