Wonderfeel Festival Orchestra with Hawijch Elders

zo. 17 juli 2022 19:45 - 20:45, Het Veld

Could music bring peace? The Ukrainian-Dutch composer Maxim Shalygin wrote Drop after drop at the initiative of Wonderfeel for Festivals for Compassion, to unite musicians across Europe in solidarity and compassion for Ukraine. The work for (string) quartet has now been performed at different places in Europe, and in this closing concert it will be performed in a version for strings by the string players of the Wonderfeel Festival Orchestra. It’s combined with the Egmont Overture on one side – a work in which Beethoven speaks out against the territorial craze of Napoleon during the French Wars – and Dvořák’s Violin Concerto on the other side. The young violin virtuoso Hawijch Elders – who is winning international prizes left and right – takes you with her through the most beautiful melodies Dvořák ever composed. Can music bring peace? Well, at least let it be a symbol for connection through beauty.
