Sinds de aftrap in 2016 is het Esmé Quartet als een speer gegaan: een eerste prijs op de Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition én HSBC laureaat van de Académie du Festival d’Aix. De vier dames spelen Der Tod und das Mädchen. Toen Schubert dit strijkkwartet componeerde, was zijn dood door syfilis niet ver meer. De wanhoop druipt eraf, met name in het tweede deel, een bewerking van het lied waaraan het stuk zijn naam ontleende.

Is there kids’ programming?
Yes, on every festival day there is a program for kids, check out our Kids page for more information. And: entrance is free for children and youth up to 18 years! They do need an entrance ticket, which you can order through the ticketshop.
