Trombonist Sebastiaan Kemner, who was awarded the Dutch Music Award last year, was praised by the jury as “a charismatic multi-musician, virtuoso, lyric, and a storyteller with a wise range of languages.” As a part of the programme which led to him winning the award, he took singing lessons, because: “singing songs on the trombone is wonderful.” His Bruckner Quartet truly highlights the singing qualities of the four trombones, through works by various composers from Rossini to Schnyder.
